Mixed feelings about the Corona virus? I have them. Maybe you do or don’t. On the other hand, panic mode and stockpiling groceries may be your answer.
My Feelings/Reasons to Stay Home During the Corona Virus
First, I’m not a teenager. My age tells me to exercise wisdom. The older I get, the longer it takes to bounce back. Where are you in the life span?
Second, with sinus, hay fever, and asthma, that makes me susceptible to the virus and pneumonia. What, if anything, places you in that same position?
Third, one of the side effects of cancer treatment is a weak heart. I’m a cancer survivor and thriver with a history of two types of aggressive chemotherapy and radiation. Talk about jeopardizing recovery!
My Feelings/Reasons Not to Stay Home
First, I’m an extrovert. People energize me, but FaceTime, Skype, and Google Hangouts can and will provide options for us extroverts. So thankful for them.
Second, a leisurely lunch at a restaurant with friends sounds wonderful. However, with the “10-person standard” (10 is a crowd) and “social distancing” of six feet between people, we are encouraged to order take-out. So the choices are take-out without my friends, cherishing the memories of great times in the past, and knowing more will come in the future. The last two choices work.
Third, my calendar reminded me of a trip to the DMV to have my EZ Pass put back on my rear view mirror. The heat and humidity caused it to fall off. Sadly, it was on the floor when I drove through a toll. A friend assured me the DMV would see I have the EZ Pass and deduct it from my account. Not so according to today’s mail, which includes the full fee for using that lane. Although the DMV is now closed in Virginia, it’s not a monumental difference. However, I could use the money.
Ways to Face Panic Mode and Stockpiling
Ways to Face #Panic and #Stockpiling during the #Coronavirus Share on X1. Death and Taxes Are Certain.
We all come with an expiration date and pay taxes until death — Corona Virus or not. As Christians, this world is not our home. We’re just passing through. Our citizenship and home are in heaven.
2. Sharing
On keagansvb.com, the website reads, “In the interest of the health & safety of our Virginia Beach Community and our staff, we have taken the decision to close from 9pm tonight [March 16, 2020] until further notice.”
Keagan’s donated all their unused food for their St. Patrick’s Day Celebration week to the Food Bank of Southeastern & Eastern Shore. This will help schools in their community provide free meals to children who have breakfast and lunch allowances.
School districts in Virginia set up hours and pickup locations for “grab and go” bags with breakfast and lunch for children who wouldn’t eat otherwise.
What can you share from your pantry or refrigerator? What can you share about what your state is doing?
During the #Coronavirus, what can you share from your pantry? Share on X3. Prayer
Prayer can’t be my last resort in the troubled times of the Corona Virus. It needs to be my first. Psalm 4:1 reads, “Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer” (New International Version).
How can I pray for you and offer you hope, encouragement, and support? As a thankful author, blogger, and speaker, nothing would bless me more than to meet your needs, dear readers, through my online writing and virtual training.

Great thoughts on how to be wise in this time. God is our refuge and our strength.
Thank you for stopping by, Debbie Wilson. Yes, indeed, God is our refuge and our strength.
Good advise, Yvonne.
I just received this from relative in Italy:
Given the situation we are experiencing in Italy, PLEASE: Stay in the house. I assure you that it is devastating to witness the death of thousands of people who die alone without being able to have the comfort of family. You can’t even have a funeral, they’re taken straight to crematorium ovens. Unfortunately, the situation is still uphill and we don’t know when it will end at the moment. We are fine at the moment, but we are surrounded by cases only 4 km. I hope that, after a first moment of serious lightness, from President Trump will now follow the Italian example in protecting all of you. Believe me we’ve never seen such a situation. Stay at home. A hug.
So, we must stay at home!
Thank you for stopping by, Penelope Carlevato. I agree with you. Let’s stay home. Hugs to you, too.
Great message Yvonne. Prayer must be our first response. We must go to God in all situations. At this time of uncertainty, we can be comforted knowing God is with us.
Thank you for stopping by, Melissa Henderson. Yes, prayer must be our first response, and God promised to be with us always. That is comfort.
Thank you. I spent a couple days in the hospital I was told I had a virus but not covid 19. But if i didn’t isolate myself not because i could give my virus to someone but if they give it to me it would be my death sentence. I came home sick and keep trying to get stronger. I have just been diagnosed with MS I’m 51 years old. I want to see my grandchildren grow. Please I beg people to self quarentean so I can live. If my family member goes to the grocery and brings it home to me, what is the difference that you pulled the trigger to my head and kill me? The only difference is my death is more painful and takes a little longer to suffer. So as the woman you could kill I beg you to respect and think of me when you dont do self quarentean and 6 foot distance. I have so much pain right now just to breathe. I’m a mother of 4 biological and 4 by marriage with 12 grandchildren. Please let me love them and watch them grow. I have a husband who loves and he’s a doctor but it doesn’t effect my care if you are irresponsible. Please help me live.
Thank you for stopping by and sharing your concerns with me, Veronica Ringel. I am praying for you and asking God to shower you with his love and compassion. I pray that those who read your comment will also pray for you. May our loving heavenly Father God, whose mercies are new every morning, be merciful to you, richly bless you, and grant you the opportunity to see your grandchildren and watch them grow. Keep in touch and let me know how you are doing.
Thanks for giving a great perspective. When we lean on God we can always remain positive.
You’re welcome, Karen Whiting. Yes, the secret is to lean on God. Thank you for stopping by, Karen.
